God is Found Through His Son
The Bible shows us that each person's sin would keep them separated from God (Isaiah 59:2). Scripture tells us the wages of our sin is death because God alone is righteousness (Ecclesiastes 7:20, Romans 6:23, Deuteronomy 4:29, Jeremiah 9:23-24). Left unchanged, each of us would be subject to His wrath.
In His love, God sent His only Son, Jesus, to take the punishment for sin for all who would believe. Jesus confirmed this when He said, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to Father except by me." (John 4:16, John 3:16)
Our challenge is to believe what God has said, and then to live like we believe it (John 17:3).
Know His Son and Believe
Scripture also says that "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17).
At Colonia Chapel, we do not agree that that truth is subject to cultural influences that continually redefine righteousness and purpose. Rather, we believe that God's Word is as true today as in the times in which it was written. We encourage one another to believe all that God has revealed in His Word, and all that He has shown about His Son, Jesus Christ. On this foundation, we encourage each person to know God by faith, and to live and grow in His Word.
If you are seeking to believe what God has said, please see our Statement of Beliefs.
If these ideas are new to you, we'd welcome an opportunity to explain.
